We're Bob and Toni Skousen of Goose Valley Llamas in northern Arizona. Goose Valley is a cool, green valley and all four seasons are beautiful. With an elevation of 5,000 feet, an abundance of water, trees, and huge pastures, it's a perfect place to raise llamas. We're located on the outskirts of Payson, only an hour and a half north of Phoenix.

We purchased our first pair of llamas in 1982 and moved them into our orange orchard in the Phoenix Valley. Then we began a quest to find the perfect home for them in the cool mountains of Arizona. Our search led us to Payson, Arizona... known as the "Healthiest Town in the West" because of its pristine air. Payson is proud to be one of the three recognized ozone belts in the world (the other two are located in Louisiana and the Hartz Mountains in Germany).

By the time Goose Valley Llamas was created, the first 2 llamas had grown to number 23, and our excitement to raise and enjoy them grew twice as fast as our herd. It seemed as if we never saw a llama we didn't want to buy, especially if it was white. From the first time we saw llamas we were hooked, not just because of their beauty and grace, but because they had the varied personalities similar to the people we knew. We learned to appreciate their sweet spirits and unconditional love, and at the same time laugh at their endless curiosity and funny pasture antics. Llamas have enriched our lives and we cannot imagine life without them. We are lifetime members in the Suri Llama Association and the LFA.

Goose Valley's original 23 llamas have developed into today's herd of 90, consisting of the best Chilean, Bolivian, Peruvian, and North American bloodlines. Over the years we've built our herd with an emphasis on correct conformation, substance, style, and superior fiber in all colors and patterns.

We breed for llamas that stand out in the show ring with calm dispositions and striking beauty.

We have beautiful suri llamas, like our Bolivian gal, Traviesa, and her son, Full Throttle, who is suri beauty at it's best.

We're very proud of our herdsires, and the boys from Goose Valley are all South American.

Each stud is extraordinary and unique on their own, but they also share similar traits that are essential in producing champion offspring; majestic presence, correct conformation, superior fiber, gentle temperaments. Best of all they are prepotent, consistantly improving upon the females they are bred to.

The dams at Goose Valley have been carefully selected because of their proven bloodlines, correct conformation, and extraordinary fiber. We also expect them to be excellent mothers with adequate milk.
